Green Spirit 59 (SET)

Named after the legendary British blues guitarist Peter Green, these pickups are known for their unmistakable tone and character.

Originally fitted to Green's iconic Les Paul Standard from 1959, these pickups have become synonymous with the classic blues-rock sound of the late 1960s and early 1970s.

Legend has it that Peter Green's pickup wasn't working properly and he sent it to a renowned luthier in London for repair. Upon return, an unusual sound emerged when both pickups were engaged. After initial annoyance, Green's dissatisfaction turned to admiration, as the unique sound became his trademark and eventually a legend. Other musicians such as T-Bone Walker and Jimmy Page experimented with similar setups, but none achieved the recognition that Green did, especially during his time with Fleetwood Mac.

User forums discuss the origins of this distinctive sound.

Speculation ranges from "backwards" wired pickups to the use of unconventional materials or magnet orientations. Amidst the ongoing debate, however, one thing remains clear: the fascination with Green's sound is undiminished.

In our search for the ultimate "Greeny pickup", we extensively tested various scenarios. In the end, we decided to use Formvar wire, which is "reversed wound".

However, we also offer customization options including using the Plain Enamel wire or using traditional wiring methods with a reversed magnet.
